Visit an Isolated Elder

JFS Warm Connectors help isolated frail older adults make connections in the community and build relationships with friends, family and neighbors. Examples of weekly visits include writing letters to family, visting a senior center or spending time with neighbors. Long term commitment required. JFS Warm Connectors reduce social isolation and alleviate loneliness both with regular visits, and by helping their older friend make connections and grow relationships with others.

Patient Navigator for Senior Adults

Do you know a senior adult who would feel more comfortable going to the doctor if there was someone they trusted to accompany them?  Patient Navigators are trained volunteers who accompany senior adults to their medical appointments easing the stress of the appointment for both the senior and their families.  As a volunteer you help the individual get the information and help that they need.  Patient Navigator is a flexible volunteer opportunity that can work with your schedule.

Tutor 3rd and 4th Graders

The All Stars club supports third graders in English, math, homework and enrichment activities. Volunteers help students understand material and act as a role model and mentor.  Math Academy is an academic after-school program for 4th graders focused on basic math concepts.  Volunteers help with activities and general support.  Interest in the math or science field a plus! Volunteers for both programs are needed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the school year - volunteer one day or both!

Volunteer with Immigrant Services

3 different opportunities await you working with immigrants in our community. Volunteers needed to help newly arrived refugees adjust to their new life in the United States. Two positions available, one focusing on mentorship and acculturation, the other focusing on pre-employment, ie resume building, interview preparation, etc. The third opportunity is working with individuals who are applying for citizenship. Volunteers help screen for eligibility, conduct follow up, and help prepare for the interview.

Development Office Assistance

Provide administrative support to the development department helping in the areas of fundraising and donor recruitment.  Help plan for the agency’s annual Seize the Dream gala by recruiting auction items, food providers, and general office support.

Improve the Health and Wellbeing of Elders

Healthy Partners delivers a primary prevention approach to health and well-being. Volunteer to lead exercise classes, arts and crafts, music groups or help with data collection. Share your special interests with the group.
