Kesher means "Connection"back to KesherJewish Family Service of Metrowest |

Isn't it wonderful when you get those moments of "enlightenment" when you learn something that makes perfect sense in the first place?
I just discovered that the meaning of the word "kesher" is "connection." As the activities director at Traditions of Wayland assisted living facility, I had been referring to our association with the Kesher program provided to us by Jewish Family Service of Metrowest as our "Kesher connection". Sounds a little redundant, doesn't it? But on second thought, it does make perfect sense.
The services provided by the Kesher program staff offers our senior residents the "connection to the connection." Not just for our Jewish population but the residential community here at large.
My job responsibilities include offering opportunities for residents to enrich their lives physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is on the spiritual level where the terrific Kesher connection comes in. I have worked with the Kesher folks for a couple of years now with regularly scheduled Shabbat services, holiday celebrations and a variety of special programs. Our residents have the opportunity to celebrate and nurture their faith within our facility, courtesy of the heartfelt outreach of the JFS/MW Kesher staff. Their loving contributions here are a welcomed gift to us and truly a treasured "connection".
